From the Ritual Committee
Dear Friends,
We are currently preparing for the High Holy Days. The Ritual Committee has contracted Rabbi Arielle Parker to serve as Cantor for the Holydays, She is a recent graduate of the Ziegler School of Conservative Judaism, and has previous experience as a cantor in other synagogues.
Our committee would like to remind you that if you paid for plaques to reserve seats in the sanctuary for the holidays, we will honor it. If however, you do not plan on occupying all the seats you own, please notify the office so that we may mark it as an open seat. This would be greatly appreciated.
During the holidays, the committee tries very hard to make sure that those who have given of themselves to the temple during the year are honored with Alyah’s. If you fell that you may have been overlooked in the past, and wish to have an honor, please contact the office or one or our committee members.
Rabbi Rick and the committee have been working on putting together a Friday night service schedule for the coming year that we hope will ignite a new found enthusiasm in our members. Because all details are not yet complete, I can only ask that you stay tuned in until we are ready to announce the schedule.
Our Saturday morning Shabbat Kiddush is a wonderful thing to behold. We eat a light lunch and we get a chance to socialize with our friends. Once a month Rabbi Rick leads a D’rosh session as lunch concludes. The problem we are having is that on many Shabbat morning, we just can’t get enough people to help prepare the lunch. If Micky Jones or anyone on her committee asks you to give an hour or two every six or eight weeks to help out, please do so. We also need help in sponsoring these Kiddush luncheons. If you have a simcha, share it with us. Sponsor a lunch. If you would like to remember a loved one, share it with us. Sponsor a lunch.
Last but not least, if you have suggestions on how to make our services more meaningful we would like to hear from you. It doesn’t mean we follow through on all suggestions, but we will listen and try to give our congregants what they want.
On behalf of the Ritual Committee, I wish all of you a sweet and happy New Year.
